Connectivity

Connectivity is a crucial element of the ION system. The pillboxes are connected to a base that not only reminds users to take their medication but also acts as a control hub that manages information about the pills and alerts users to any issues. This base uses RFID technology to read which medications are stored in each pillbox and determine how many pills remain, ensuring efficient monitoring of the treatment.

APP

Thanks to this seamless connectivity, the app synchronizes in real time with the entire service ecosystem, allowing pharmacists, caregivers, and family members to stay informed and engaged in the treatment process. From the very first step, the app guides users through the service, starting with prescription registration, medication setup, and daily intake reminders, while also providing alerts, progress tracking, and direct communication with healthcare providers.

Registration & SetUp

After receiving a prescription, the user learns about ION through their doctor or pharmacy. They register on the ION app, choose their role (patient or caregiver), and upload their prescription. They also select a pharmacy and, as a new user, choose a plastic or aluminum pillbox.

Medication Manufacturing

The selected pharmacy sends the prescription to a certified facility for 3D printing. The pills are packaged, and new users receive three color-coded pillboxes and a base.

System Activation

The user loads the pillboxes by placing pills into each one and synchronizes them with the base via the app. The app tracks pill usage in real-time.

Daily Use

When it’s time to take medication, the base and app alert the user. Pressing the pillbox button dispenses a pill. This process repeats three times daily. The app notifies the user before the pill supply runs out.

Error Handling

If pills are loaded incorrectly or doses are missed, the smart base detects the issue and sends alerts to both the user and their caregiver for quick resolution.
