Supermarket App
Service, Experience design
2025
Introduction
This project explores how design and technology can transform everyday routines into smarter, more efficient experiences. The challenge: simplify grocery shopping by helping users compare supermarkets, discover better deals, and optimize their shopping lists all in one seamless mobile app.

Creative Process & Brainstorming
The project started with rapid ideation sessions, sketching user journeys, and exploring how people naturally approach grocery shopping. From handwritten lists to comparing prices across different supermarkets, the goal was clear: design an app that feels intuitive, reduces decision fatigue, and empowers users to save both time and money.
From Concepts to Prototypes
After the first sketches, I moved quickly into Figma to structure the experience. The focus was on clarity: clean typography, clear shopping categories, and a minimalistic layout. Every design decision was guided by usability, especially since the target audience is mostly +35 years old, requiring intuitive navigation and high accessibility.
Shopping List Prototype
The first prototype focused on the shopping list experience. Users can build and customize their grocery list, which is then categorized automatically (produce, protein, dairy, pantry). This step set the foundation for a structured, more efficient shopping flow.
Supermarket Comparison Prototype
The next layer added intelligence: real-time supermarket comparison. Based on location and price data, the app suggests whether it’s cheaper to buy everything at one supermarket or split purchases between two nearby options. This comparison view became the app’s key differentiator.
From Figma to Figma Make: Building the Real App
To bring the concept to life, I leveraged Figma Make (Figma’s new AI-powered tool) to transform prototypes into a functioning interactive app. This step drastically accelerated the process turning static designs into an early-stage working product. The result: a sleek, Apple-inspired interface with glass-like UI elements that feels both modern and highly usable.
Walkthrough & Next Steps:
The app is still evolving. The next iterations will include:
Real-time price updates via crowdsourced ticket uploads
Recipe-based shopping planning
Shared lists for families and friends
This is an ongoing, fast-paced project, and the portfolio below showcases not just the design but also the rapid prototyping and early development stages.
